“The sound of my footsteps disappearing into the profound silence”

Photography memoirs

Walking through the archaic doorway of Freiburger Münster, I paused, crossing myself before walking down the aisle. The sound of my footsteps disappearing into the profound silence. In reverent awe I suddenly paused and looked up towards the cathedral ceiling, awestruck at the beauty and magnificence of this church. The words of the Roman emperor Justinian, as he entered “Hagia Sophia”, “The Wisdom of God” dedicated to Christ Jesus in Constantinople echoed within me… “Solomon, I have surpassed thee”

“I paused in front of a cobblestone street with Bächle…”

Photography memoirs

Looking to take the quintessential photography of Freiburg, I paused in front of a cobblestone street with Bächle and classic Germanic style houses. As I clicked the shutter, suddenly, a cyclist entered my view, riding at full speed and turned to face me with arms spread out horizontally while shouting ‘Yuhoo” and continuing along his journey. I smiled and laughed at this unknown beautiful person.

“Another narrow miss, welcome to Freiburg, city of cafes, bächle and mad cyclists.”

Walking along a narrow path I suddenly paused, admiring a magnificent cathedral. As I continued on my journey, a cyclist raced past, oblivious to my presence. I thought to myself, “Another narrow miss, welcome to Freiburg, city of cafes, bächle and mad cyclists.”
