On a cold winters day, walking along well trodden alpine paths, tired and alone, my muffled footsteps and frozen breath my only companions, I experienced a moment of beauty.

Walking along a narrow path I suddenly paused, admiring a magnificent cathedral spire. A mere moment passed as a cyclist raced past, oblivious to my presence. I thought to myself, “Another narrow miss, welcome to Freiburg, city of cafes, bächle and mad cyclists.”

The scent of fresh air following rainfall lingered in the cold winter wind caressing my face. Ascending the winding road, I paused, admiring the brilliantly arrayed facades beautiful to behold in their elegant simplicity.
